Optimize audio quality when using a router

For the best audio quality when using a router you should set up your Router and IP Phone Center to use NetMeeting mode.

Overview

There are two modes of operation for IP Phone Center;

1.

Tunnel mode, tunnel mode is easy to configure and will work with almost any router but the audio quality is not as good as NetMeeting mode.

2.

NetMeeting mode, NetMeeting mode will give you better audio quality but needs a router that supports NetMeeting mode.

If both your PPG and your USB Phone are connected to internet directly (not behind a router), the PPG application and the IP Phone center will automatically be set as NetMeeting mode and the audio quality should be optimized.

If either your PPG or USB Phone are connected to internet via a router, PPG and IP Phone center will automatically be set as tunneling mode and there will be some degradation of audio quality.

To check the mode you are ruining please click here.

Enabling NetMeeting mode on your system

IMPORTANT If you have PPG installed on your network you need to set the PPG for NetMeeting mode and leave your IP Phone Center unchanged. To set your PPG for NetMeeting mode please click here.

In order to have IP Phone Center operate using NetMeeting mode to have better audio quality, it requires:

1

Your router is NetMeeting compatible. To check if your router is NetMeeting compatible: run connection tester

2

Open the port, details are here.

3

Configure IP Phone Center to run in "NetMeeting compatible mode" details are here.
