Placing a Personal Phone Gaterway (PPG) call with the IP Phone Center

Calling regular phone numbers through a PPG

You can place calls to regular phone numbers through a Personal Phone Gateway (PPG). You call will travel over the Internet to the PPG and if the call is placed to a number in the local calling area of the phone line to which the PPG is connected, your call will be free - even if you are placing it from the other side of the world!

You can use your own personal PPG or any PPG that the owner has given you permission to use, there are demonstration PPGs installed in the U.S. and Hong Kong that enable you to place limited time calls to regular phone numbers in the U.S. and Hong Kong.

When you first install IP Phone Center there will be a number of demonstration PPGs on your Buddy List that you can use to place calls.

Placing free long distance call through CuPhone's demo PPG

To enable users to evaluate the PPG, CuPhone has installed demo PPGs to provide CuPhone's customer to make free call to USA, Canada and most of the country in Asia ( China, Taiwan, HK, Japan, Singapore, Korea, Australia, Malaysia, New Zealand..) and Europe (UK, Germany, France, Israel, Italy, Belgium, Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland....).

To make a free long distance call through CuPhone's demo gateway:

Select the gateway you like to use. Click call then follow the instruction to enter the phone number.

Note: each gateway may have different phone number format (you should see the instruction after you click the gateway's icon).

For example:

Free Europe Gateway: dial 44+phone number for UK

Free China Gateway: dial 011+86+ phone number for China

Free Asia Gateway: dial 852+ phone number for Hong Kong

Free USA Gateway: dial 1+ phone number for USA and Canada

Free Mexico Gateway: dial 52 + phone number for Mexico

Adding your own PPG to your Buddy List

After you installed your own PPG, you can easily add your own Personal Phone Gateway to your Buddy List by entering it's email address using the Add a new Buddy button, for example the 1408 Gateway Demo address is phonedemo1@tjnet.com.

In your Buddy List, Click on the Add a new Buddy button.

In the Find your Buddy dialog box;
	Enter the email address of the PPG
	Click Find
	Select the PPG you want to add
	Click Add

Placing your call through a PPG

Your choice of PPGs will be listed in your Buddy List together with your other Buddys.

In your Buddy List, double click on the PPG you wish to place a call through.

In the dialog box you will see a description of the PPG and the phone numbers that can be called through it.
	Enter your user name (if required).
	Enter your password (if required).
	Enter the phone number you wish to call
	Click Place a phone call

When your call connects the in call dialog will "pop-up".
	Adjust the speaker volume for comfortable listening.
	Adjust your Microphone volume so that you see three yellow squares with the occasional red square.
	To send DTMF tones to access voicemail etc. click on the keypad.
	Click Hangup to complete your call
