What product do I need to buy to make free long distance phone calls to regular phones?

Just need to purchase a Phone adaptor which includes all of the software that you require. We provide demo Personal Phone Gateway (PPG) that enable you to place free international land line calls to most of the countries around the world (no per minute or  monthly charge).

Can I use the USB Internet phone with other Internet Telephony services?

What is IPC?

How do I place a call from my PC to another PC?

How do I place a call from my PC to a regular phone number?

You can place a call to a regular phone number using a Personal Phone Gateway (PPG). For help with placing a call through a PPG to a regular phone number please click here.

How can I tell if my friend is on-line and I can place a call to her/him.

When your friend is on-line and ready to receive a call the light bulb next to their name glows yellow, if their bulb is red they are already in a call. When they are off-line their light bulb is gray. More information is here.

Can I use my USB Internet phone to place free international calls to US, Canada, Europe Asia, South America, Africa....regular phone numbers?

Yes, we have demonstration Personal Phone Gateways installed in the most countries around the world that you can place free international calls through to regular USA, Canada, most of countries in Europe, Asia, South America, Africa ..phone numbers. As these are demonstration systems your call time may be limited. With your own PPG you can enjoy free unlimited long distance calls to any number in the area your PPG installed. Can I use the IP Phone Center application with other sound hardware?

Yes, we have a special version called Software IPC which can use with PC's sound card. However, the audio quality is not as good as our USB Phone. For more information click here

Can I use the IP Phone Center application to place calls through VoIP gateways?

Yes, a call to a VoIP gateway is called a static gateway call. for more information please click here.

My PC is behind a Router and a Firewall, can I still place outbound calls using my USB Internet Phone and the IP Phone Center application?

My PC is behind a Router and a Firewall, can I still receive calls using my USB Internet phone and the IP Phone Center application?

Yes, if you have PPG installed in your network, you can have multiples USB internet phones receive/place calls at same times behind router. For more information on the PPG please click here

I have multiple PCs on a local network (LAN) behind a Router and a Firewall, can all of my PCs receive and place calls simultaneously?

Yes, if you have a Personal Phone Gateway (PPG) installed on your local network, all of your PCs can simultaneously place and receive calls through your Router and Firewall. For more information on how to configure your router to support the Personal Phone Gateway (PPG) click here

Can I use Internet access through a dial-up modem to place and receive calls?

Yes, we have developed a special mode that enables call quality when using a dial-up Internet connection to be indistinguishable from a broad band connection. For information on setting the IP Phone Center for a dial-up Internet connection, click here.

My friend is not listed in my Buddy List, how do I add him/her?

How do I know what version of IP Phone Center is installed?

Right click on the IP Phone Center icon in your tray and select about.

Why does the icon for IP Phone Center in the tray change color?

The icon color for IP Phone Center will change depending on it's status;

Yellow - ready to place and receive calls.

Green - you are in a call.

Red - your USB Internet phone is not on line

Grey with red cross on top - can not find USB internet phone hardware.

My PC is unable to detect my USB Internet phone, what do I need to do?

Try un-plugging your USB Internet phone, counting to 10 and plugging it back in.

Check the PCs USB socket with another USB device.

Why is my IP Phone Center unable to contact the server?

Check you have Internet access by opening your browser.

The Buddy server is occasionally taken off-line for maintenance.

21)

During installation I am asked for my email address - why?

Your friends will be able to add you to their Buddy Lists by entering your email address.

You can use any email address that you want provided that no other IP Phone Center or PPG user is already using the email address that you entered.

The email ID you used to log in our server first time will link to serial num and can not be changed.

The phone icon for the IP Phone Centre in the system tray (by the clock) is yellow and it says "trying to connect", after a few minutes it gives me the message "Buddy Server off line for maintenance".

The Buddy Server is very rarely off-line. If you receive this message and are connected to the Internet please run the diagnostic, full details are here.

My audio sounds "broken" or "choppy".

Broken or choppy audio can be caused by either;

1)  Not running in super tunnel mode. For Full information, please click here.

Or

2)  Internet connection "jitter" (usually present on low bandwidth connections). To change the jitter setting please visit the jitter setting page.

How do I place a call through a H.323 gatekeeper or SIP Proxy/Gateway?

To set up an entry in your Buddy List so you can place calls through a H.323 gatekeeper please visit the static gateway/gatekeeper page. If you like to place call via third-party SIP Proxy/Gateway, click here

I have Windows98 or Windows ME  how do I install IPC?

If Windows needs to load files or requests the original setup CD, point Windows to the directory with the .cab files. Also, you need to install Netmeeting( but not run)

How to reduce echo?
IP Phone center provides advanced echo cancellation features. To enable "advanced echo cancellation", click Tools > Options > Enable advanced echo cancellation.

During the installation, an error occur "..file is not suitable for 32 bit...". Why?
It is a common Windows problem. Some of your system files get corrupted. Please click here for the instruction to fix it

Can not logon and get LDAP error. Why?
One of Microsoft utility (LDAP) is not installed in your Windows. Please click here for the instruction to install

Get a error message "email ID and serial number mismatched" Why?
The serial number is linked to the email ID you used to log in our server first time. If you forgot or what to change the email ID. Please click here to submit the request

Why my phone caller ID only shows 200?
If your phone caller ID only displays 200 or 100 and missing the caller ID, most likely your phone only allow to display single line. Please edit Config.ini in IP Phone Center directory as follow [SuperControl]

How to set my RJ11 phone adaptor-Dual defaults stay on PSTN line?
If you like to stay on PSTN line when you pick your phone,  change the parameter as follow in Config.ini file in IP Phone Center ( restart IP Phone Center after the modification)

My RJ11 phone adaptor-Dual has problem to detect the PSTN's ring signal, why?
Since the ring signal may be different in each country, please change the Ring detection parameter as follow in Config.ini file in IP Phone Center ( restart IP Phone Center after the modification)

When I am in VoIP connection, can I get a warning tone if I get a PSTN incoming call?
Yes, for RJ11_Dual and Combo, you can change the parameter as follow in Config.ini file in IP Phone Center ( restart IP Phone Center after the modification)

The device is plugged in but Windows can not find the hardware?
During installation, if you plug in our USB device in before you install the CD, it may cause problem. Click here for the instruction to fix this problem.

PC sounds are being played through my Internet phone and not through my speakers, Why?
You need to select your PC audio as default device. Click here for instruction

39)

How to update the device driver?
If you plug in the hardware before install the CD, your device will be installed as USB Audio device which may have problem with certain version of Windows. Click here for instruction to update your driver

In Skype call, the Mic volume is too low. How to adjust?
You can change the parameter as follow in Config.ini file in IP Phone Center ( restart IP Phone Center after the modification)

Can IP Phone Center support "VoipBuster"?
Yes, ver.825_2 and up will support VoipBuster. You can change the parameter as follow in demo.ini in IP Phone Center directory ( restart IP Phone Center after the modification)

How to turn IPC's hotkey off?
If you like to disable IPC's hotkey ( may conflict with other application), change the config.ini and demo.ini in IP Phone Center directory

Is the PPG easy to install?

Yes, put in the CD, install the application, then either plug in the USB cable or plug in the PCI card (Note you will have to open your PC and plug in an add-on card). Full details are here;

What is the Internet connection requirement for the PPG?

We suggest that you use an "always on" connection such as DSL, Cable modem etc. The PPG uses only a small amount of bandwidth. Calls can only be placed through your PPG when your PPG is connected to the Internet.

Can I use another application (apart from the IP Phone Center) to place calls through my PPG.

You can only use IP Phone Center to place calls through a PPG. The IP Phone Center application has been tightly integrated with the PPG and this tight integration enables you to place and receive calls through Routers and Firewalls.

Is there a demo of PPG that I can place calls through to test the quality?

If you have IP Phone Center installed you can place calls to numbers in Hong Kong and the US through PPGs that we have setup. If you would like to try IP Phone Center and place a call through a USB PPG, you can download a free demo version.

 

6)

How long can I talk for when I place a call be through a PPG?

You can set your PPG for unlimited time. The demo PPGs are limited to 10 minutes.

 

7)

Can I limit the call time through my PPG?

Yes, you can limit the time a call is connected, you can also create user accounts and give then a total time limit for all of their calls. For more information on creating user accounts please click here.

 

8)

Can I limit what numbers that can be called through my PPG? 

Yes, you can select the numbers to which calls can be placed, other numbers will be blocked. More information is here.

9)

How do I know what numbers have been called through my PPG? 

When a call is placed through your PPG a small window will notify you of the call. In addition there is a log file with the time and date of each call.

 

10)

Can I set up user names and passwords to prevent unauthorized calls through my PPG? 

Yes, you have the option to create accounts with user names and passwords. For more information click here.

 

11)

Can I block certain numbers such as 911, 411 etc.

All three digit numbers such as 911, 411 etc are blocked by default and calls cannot be placed to them.

 

12)

Can my PPG be connected to a PBX?

Yes, if you want, you can set your PPG to automatically dial a 9 before placing a call. (Note, the connection to your PBX must be analog, if you can plug in a regular phone to your PBX and place a call, you can also plug in the PPG.

 

13)

My phone line needs a special prefix to be dialed in front of numbers?

Yes, your PPG can be set to dial a prefix before the number called by the user.

Can my PPG share a phone line?

Yes, your PPG can share your main phone line or your fax line. PPG checks to see if there is a call in progress (dial tone) before placing a call. Click here for the instruction to enable dial tone detection

Can I install my PPG in a PC that accesses the Internet through a Router?

Yes, Super Tunnel Mode (STM) has been specially developed to offer zero configuration and optimum audio quality options. click here for more infomration

I use ICS to share the Internet access for my network, can I install PPG?

Yes, you can install PPG and use your PPG together with ICS, for more information please click here.

I use Microsoft Proxy Server to share the Internet access for my network, can I install PPG.

19)

Can I install PPG on a PC running NT4.0?

No, PPG needs to be installed on a system running Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows ME, or Windows 98.

 

20)

Which ports need to be forwarded on my Router to support PPG?

Super Tunnel Mode (STM) has been specially developed to offer zero configuration and audio quality options. You don't need to do any ports forwarding for most of the case. However, if you like to optimize your audio quality and support Netmeeting call, Ports 1720, 6667 and 6666 need to be forwarded to the PC with your PPG installed. for more information please click here.

What does the message "open port 6667" mean?

PPG has detected that port 6667 is not being forwarded to the PC in which PPG is installed. Please check that your Router, Proxy Server or ICS application is forwarding port 6667 to the PC with PPG installed. For more information please click here.

How can I test my Internet connection to be sure it is set up correctly?

We have developed a test program called Connection Tester that will check your connection and create a log file that you can send to us to check. For more information please click here.

I am able to place calls through my PPG from other PCs on my local Network (LAN) but I cannot place calls from a PC on the Internet?

It is most likely that you have a router/proxy Server configuration We have developed a test program called Connection Tester that will check your connection and create a log file that you can send to us to check. For more information please click here.

My call does not connect and I get an error message. What should I do?

Check that the phone number is allowed to be called through the PPG that you are using.

Check if the PPG password function is enabled and you need to enter a user name and password.

If the PPG you are placing your call through is behind a Router or Proxy Server - check the Router or Proxy Server is correctly configured with the Connection Tester.

During installation I am asked for an email address for my PPG - why?

You will be able to add your PPG to your Buddy List using the email address that you have chosen for your PPG. IMPORTANT you cannot use the same email addresses for your PPG and your USB Internet phone - they must be different.

How do I know that my PPG is running and ready to take a call?

You will have the PPG icon in your tray and a dialog box on your screen above the tray. To see what the icon looks like click here.

How can I place a call through the Check Point Firewall?

Please open ports 389, 5853, 6278, 9000 for outbound TCP.

 

28)

When I place a call to the phone number of the phone line used by my PPG I get a busy signal?

You PPG is using the phone line that is connected to your PPG to place your call, if you call this number, it is in effect the same as if picked up a phone and dialed your own number.

Can I install my PPG behind Firewall?
Yes, you can install your PPG behind Firewall. Most of the Firewall software (such as ZoreAlarm, MacAee's personal firewall ..)has auto-learn features. As long as you run our application after the firewall software, everything should be ok. If your Firewall software does not have auto-learn features,  please click to have  more information

Can I install multiple PPG in one PC?
Yes, we offer Daul_PPG package and Quad_PPG package which support to install two and four PPGs in one PC.

Can PPG accept incoming call?
Yes, PPG does support incoming call and can forward the incoming call to either skype or IP Phone Center. For PPG to PPG (phone to phone operation),  incoming call function is an upgraded options.

Can PPG accept call from third-party H.323 gatekeeper?
Yes, PPG does support third-party H.323 gatekeeper. Download Gkregister into PPG's directory and run with PPG
 

33)

Do you have PPG's user group?
Yes, if you like to share, exchange or sell your PPG's calling time, you can publish the information in PPG's user ground. Click her to to join PPG's user ground.
 

34)

How to increase PPG's audio volume?
In PPG directory, edit GMConfig.ini as follow ( only available to ver.818 and up)

PlaybackFactor=1  ; default is 1. change to 2 will increase playback volume
RecorderFactor=1  ; default is 1. change to 2 will increase record volume

 

Need restart PPG after you change
